“Cervical cancer: Virtually all cases of cervical cancer are caused by HPV, and just two HPV types, 16 and 18, are responsible for about 70% of all cases.” Caused by a virus.
“Anyone who has ever been sexually active (that is, engaged in skin-to-skin sexual conduct, including vaginal, anal, or oral sex) can get HPV.” Spreads through sex.
People who are not sexually active almost never develop genital HPV infections. There are always exceptions.
Cervical cancer IS PREVENTABLE with the HPV vaccine. Ask your physician about this. It can literally prevent a cancer. Immunizations start young, ideally, before sexual activity begins.
