Colonoscopy number 2 completed

So my first colonoscopy was at 50. A benign polyp was found at that time. Had a not had my colonoscopy at the recommended age, I could be facing colon cancer now. A friend is going through this right now. He is tough as nails and was anti-preventative care prior to his diagnosis. Half way through his chemotherapy treatment, he is posting everywhere on social media to get your scope and avoid the hell he is going through.

I was recommended to repeat my colonoscopy at the 5-year mark. It is completed and normal.

Any of my Naval Academy Class of 1990 classmates or high school classmates, who had an abnormal scope at age 50, should be having their second colonoscopy completed.

Recommendations for first time colonoscopy is now at 45 vice 50.

24 hours of fasting and bowel prep every 5-10 years is well worth the trade off of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy.
